Building a State Crew Base with the Connecticut Film Industry Training Program
Saturday, May 8, 2010 - 4PM
Connecticut Film Festival
Danbury
If you're looking for qualified, enthusiastic people to work with you on your film, look no further than the Connecticut Film Industry Training Program. Started in 2008, the FITP has trained over 250 state residents to work on film and television projects that come into the state, and has created original short films for FITP graduates to use as calling cards to help get into the industry. This year, the program will be held at Quinnipiac University in Hamden.
This event will begin with a screening of the two original short films made as part of the FITP last summer: "Down to the Wire," a drama film made at Middlesex Community College in Middletown, and "Time's Up," a comedy film made at Quinnipiac University. After the screening, a panel discussion, moderated by program director Charles Miller, will talk about the impact the program has had on its graduates, and the industry, as well as plans for the 2010 FITP. Panelists will include directors Lewis Gould (LAW AND ORDER, MEDIUM, JUDGING AMY) and Richard Dobbs (LAW AND ORDER, THE CLEANER), who directed "Down to the Wire" and "Time's Up," respectively, as well as each school's program directors, screenwriters, and FITP graduates who have used the program as a springboard into the film and television production industries. Prospective filmmakers are welcome to attend and learn more about the program, and current filmmakers can get just as much out of the event - they can learn where to find qualified, energetic workers to be a part of their own projects. |
